April Fool’s Day is great day to introduce you to Sonseed’s Jesus is my friend.
Sonseed was a 1970’s Catholic band out of Brooklyn, New York. Their video went viral in 2008, spawning parodies such as ‘Vader is a friend of mine’ and ‘Jesus Ist Ein Freund Von Mir.’

The lead singer, Sal Polichetti, is still around. Apparently he wrote the song in 10 minutes flat. Here’s an interview about the band:

It’s obvious that the song went viral out of mockery–for both the style and the lyrics. Nonetheless, it’s fun.
