Norm MacDonald, best known for his role on Saturday Night Live, recently came under fire for tweeting something about his faith.
His tweets are most known for his golf commentary, but on Monday, March 18th 2013, he testified to his belief in God and the scripture.
Immediately he was hounded by apparent atheists who called his belief a ‘fairy tale’ and that ‘religion is the worst thing to ever happen to this planet.’ Some of the attacks were laced with every kind of vile profanity one could imagine.
–All because he professed faith in God and the scriptures.
This is not new. Jesus said this:
“If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me before it hated you.” John 15:18 CSB
“Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name” Matthew 24:9 CSB
The Good News of Jesus Christ rises and falls in popularity depending upon the times; But those who hold fast to His word will be persecuted.
Unfortunately for Americans, the persecution seems to be growing each year.
Sadly, Norm MacDonald later caved from the pressure. Here were his tweets in response to the atheist cyber-bullies:
He deleted his original statements affirming his belief in God and the scriptures.
I don’t know where Norm MacDonald stands with God, but I hope he will reconsider his caving on cyber-bullies.
Paul commands this:
“Be alert, stand firm in the faith, be brave and strong. ” 1 Corinthians 16:13 CSB
